I had an article written about the war, but I'm tossing it. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter what I think, anyway. So instead, let me tell you what
I'm really thinking...
I'm thinking about the NCAA Basketball Tournament, but not in the sense you think. No, I'm thinking just how lucky we are in this country ... to have things
like the Big Dance, and the State Fairs, and the Midnight Movies, and the Coffee Shops, and the Barbarque Cookoffs, and the ... well, just the neat and pleasing diversions
in life that we don't appreciate until we don't have them anymore, or like some people in the world, never had them. And, I conclude ... myself included in this
indictment ... just how little we deeply appreciate what we do have. The little things that we take so much for granted. Consider this...
I'm very fortunate to own a popular website that caters to sports enthusiasts who follow a particular team. It's no secret what it is ... and in the past several
months, I've noticed an increasing number of "hits" coming from military locations overseas - guys and gals taking care of bidness' for us in the world - mostly in
"you-know-where" land. Short visits to the website just to see how the swimming team is doing, or maybe just to take a look at a picture of the beautiful Tower Building
that graces the page. Whatever the reason, I'm glad its there.
And, to the guys and gals over 'yonder, let me just say that we'll cheer for you at the games, and sip a cup of coffee after a midnight flick, and we'll tell you
all about it when you get back. And we'll thank you, too, for jolting us into appreciating what we have, and hopefully, will never lose.
