W. W. D. D. ?
WHAT WOULD DUKE DO?

Somebody had better start standing up for dog's rights around here. I swear, if my dog Duke were still alive, he'd really be ticked. Well, you know what I mean. SHOWIN' TEETH MAD, all because of this latest marvel in technology, which reduces a dog's life to that of ... well ... a dog's life, if you catch my drift.

Reason? New residential electric meters. Wireless electric meters, mind you. (For some reason, a 'wireless' electric meter just doesn't sound ... well ... electric, does it?) Anyway, doesn't Mr. Edison's company know they're messin' with a dog's "internal clock"? I mean, here comes this guy once a month, trudging through the backyard, reading the meter ... which is cause for a dog to think they're actually coming by just to see him (or, frankly, the one time a month a dog can practice his emergency "I'm a watchdog" drill, and bite the hell out of the poor soul).

This is of great concern to me. First, our dogs lost visitation rights from the neighborhood milk man - a nice fellow who brought good things, but the supermarkets took over his gig. And then, the post office put up those Centralized Neighborhood Postal Things, so Fido can't even bark at Newman anymore. And now, the electric guy! He's gone. And, it's sad. All for progress, at a great price. I need to get a grip, here.

What would Duke do, you ask?

He'd organize! He'd organize the hell outta' the dogs around here to march on city hall. Just imagine a pack of angry canines ... organized, and marching to preserve their "rights of expectation" - the monthly "meter guy game". And you thought only COWS were mad! You didn't know Duke! "Dog Rights! Dog Rights! Dog Power", would be the howl, with a little calling card, or something else, left on the city hall steps.

...If it weren't for that damn leash law...

HAVE A GOOD WEEK, EVERYONE...
